Animal Welfare

The Right Way

Respect: That is the word that best describes our attitude towards animal welfare.

Through clean and dry housing, comfortable beds, shade and cooling in the summer, protection in the winter, freshwater, and tasty and nutritious food, we show respect to our animals. We handle them with patience. Any sick animal is treated quickly with professional help and given special care.

All farms have a very high survival rate at birth and very few losses thereafter. This is the result of close attention around calving, speedy colostrum intake, and clean and dry calf housing.

COW WATCH™

For mature cows, all are fitted with a COW WATCH pedometer. The pedometer enables us to check their health on a daily basis, see how active they are and if they’ve eaten.

The associated computer program tells us which cows to check on for potential health concerns. Through the pedometer, we are also able to monitor cow fertility, which has made a large impact on the invoice from our veterinarian.

In all, a happy cow is a healthy cow. You look after her, she looks after you – for many years.
