In our search for a more sustainable farming model we realized we had to change the way we farm. A few years ago we began to greatly reduce, or in some cases abandon, the use of fertilizers and chemicals.
In Germany, with hundreds of hectares of cover crops as green manure, we now have converted most of our hectares into organic production. We realized our vision and way of working matches well with the 4 returns, 20 years, 3 zones approach developed by Commonland Foundation. This approach enables land users, farmers and companies to collectively manage the landscape they are part of in a sustainable way.
Plants & Soil
We try and listen to our soil and our plants. Our crop rotation is based on a grass-clover mix.
We look for more harmony. We don’t mind when we see a few weeds, a few beetles or wheat and barley not as good-looking as conventional.
In Germany, we accept 50% of our normal output; and we live in hope that consumers will see and reward our efforts by paying a better price for all the beautiful and natural products we produce.
