Koepon Farms: Germany

In north east Germany, in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, there are four farms of the Pon family, which grow more and more together to form one farm. With 1000 Jersey cows and their offspring, the largest German Jersey herd is kept here. A total of about 4,000 hectares of arable land and grassland are farmed. In addition, 3500 ewes with their lambs are mainly kept in the pasture. Forage cultivation for our animals is almost exclusively on our own land.

The varied and beautiful landscape was formed in the ice age. Hilly fields and meadows alternate with forests and many lakes. The soil is varied; fertile loamy soil and poor sandy areas are often next to each other or bordering with stony areas. On average, there is a precipitation of about 550 mm. A team of 80 employees tills the areas and takes care of the animals.

We have a special responsibility towards the largely intact nature found in the nature park Sternberger Seenland. Therefore, in 2018 it was decided to convert most of arable farming and dairy farming to organic farming. Thus, the course has been set for even more sustainable agriculture.

We offer our employees attractive jobs. We try to optimally combine technical progress, digitization and the love of agriculture and nature. Our goal is easier work and to improve quality while making the work easier and more efficient.
